Abra ride

second post from last weekend. I took this shot from the Deira part of the creek, at second floor of the parking garage.
the cost of the Abra ride is about 1 Dirhem. (1 USD is fixed to 3.65 AED) you can pass from Deira to Bur Dubai with cheapest price.

When ever I have visitor from outside Dubai, I bring them here to experience this. This is not exactly the most popular tourist thing, but if you want to see something different from 5 stars hotels or shiny malls, this is real touch of Dubai.
Passengers are mainly from Dubai residents and they are using Abras as a part of their daily routine, of course you will see some tourist as well. If you want full creek tour with Abra, you can rent it as well. In that case it will not be 1 Dirhem  :)

Spice Souk

This weekend, I decided to walk around like a tourist in Dubai.
I went to the creek. Parked my car somewhere and start to walk around. Mainly around spice souk and the creek at Deira part.

I went spice souk about 6 years back, only when I was new in Dubai. Today once more I realized why I haven't been there all these years. : )

To be honest, spice souk in Dubai is not much interesting for me, maybe because I am familiar this from Istanbul. I prefer to spent my time at the Creek, taking a tour with abras, or watchig the port. These are really unique for me. (You can click on labels to see my previous posts about them)

Today, I want to share one picture from spice souk. you can find different type of spices like Iranian Safran, Cinnamon sticks, rose petals, and many more...

I would like to show you another view of Burj Al Arab; from the souq Medinat.

I think the best burj al arab view is from souq medinat. Modern iconic 7 stars hotel will be in the frame with traditional architecture.

Bike parking only

I took this picture in the morning at the parking area of our office building.
Most of the times I see motorcycles here in this dedicated area.  This might be the first time I see bike here.
Even the weather is not pleasant in summer time,  bicycle is still popular in Dubai,

natural life in Dubai

I wouldn't thought that much different birds can live in Dubai with this temperature.
After I moved, I figured out, desert is also hosting so many different bird species. Especially last two decades, parks and greenery areas are increased in Dubai so the population of birds as well as the number of different species.
I took this photo at the Creek Park. It is public park. Even the quality is not good, I like this picture since bird visible with its beauty.

a tree from the Crek Park

Even Dubai is located in the desert, there are plenty parks available in the city.
The Creek park is one of them. it is located next to the creek. there is small entrance fee which is reasonable.
Unfortunately i do not know the name of this tree but its form is very different and unique.

Rust & Ruins - 2

When I was looking for a picture for the theme of Rust & Ruins, I found this picture. Officially it is not in Dubai, that's why I didn't publish
It is Sharjah. Another Emirate of 7 emirates in UAE. But practically it is a part of Dubai. Distance from Sharjah to Dubai is just couple of Kms. Many people lives in Sharjah and works in Dubai.

This a picture from Sharjah Industrial Areas. This placed is full with workshops and many cars are just dumped over there.
If you are not happy with the pricing policy of licensed workshops, you can find alternative from here.
When I had a problem with my car, I learned a lot about these overpriced workshops and their reasonable alternatives.

Rust & Ruin

September's theme is Rust & Ruins.
It is not easy to find something rusted or ruined in Dubai.
In these days, I am just travelling and I got a help from my archived for this month's theme.
I took this picture at Miracle Garden before summer. There were many cars used in this way for decoration. I am not sure if this is matching with the theme's idea but this is all I have for the moment. :)

PS: I am away from Dubai and my computer. I prepared this post before September, I hope above link is working well.
